After the snow melts

It may be the largest ski resort in North America, but after the snow melts in Whistler Blackcomb a fresh wave of visitors arrive to enjoy its summer aspects. Committed cyclists tell me the Canadian ski resort is one of the world’s pre-eminent mountain bike circuits – so much so that every second chairlift is swapped out for a bike-lift. While hurtling down the slopes on skis and bundled in snow gear seems somehow reasonable, the prospect of only Lycra between you and the mountainside seems less so – which is to say adventure comes in all sorts, in all seasons, at Whistler.
